Target Groups
Project Goal: To provide innovative, home-level climate-resilient solutions by integrating low-cost waste management, sustainable water safety, and decentralized energy solutions for the most vulnerable groups in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.
Challenges & Response
Coastal households in the Maldives face a critical intersection of climate threats: failing wastewater systems during monsoon floods, seasonal water scarcity, and escalating energy costs. These challenges strain family resilience and threaten household sanitation and security across the islands.
In response, ECOSOM implements decentralized, home-level adaptations. By deploying low-cost wastewater recycling kits and energy-efficient lighting solutions, we empower families to manage their own resources sustainably. This practical approach builds immediate climate resilience at the foundation of the community.
